To make this house a home, portrays the emotional weight of everyday objects within the family home, aiming to showcase the relationship between nostalgia and childhood aiding to shape you into the person you are today. Lucy has handpicked her favourite objects from the family home such as her dads favourite vase and her mums favourite mug, replicating them on a large scale to illustrate the emotional weight of the object. These were once average functional objects within the family home, however by recreating them on a large scale, this invites the viewer to see and understand the nostalgic nature of the objects and and help them to view their possessions in the same manner. A house isn’t just a physical space with four walls, doors and windows. It’s a cascade of memories echoing throughout the space; every 6am Christmas mornings as a child, every laugh, every birthday. Within a home you constantly surrounded by objects and memories that give you a sense of belonging within this world, shaping you into the person that you are.

These pieces were created through hand building techniques ( coiling and slab work ). decorated with decorative black/white slip, clear glaze, brown and yellow glaze.
